Day 01 - Arrive Delhi
On arrival you will be met by a Group Tours to India
representative and transferred to hotel, where we will be holding
the rooms on ready occupancy basis. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 02 - Delhi
Morning excursion to the city included visiting Laxmi Narayan
Temple - the Place of Gods, India Gate - the memorial to the
soldiers who laid down their lives in the World War I., Parliament
House. Afternoon tour of Old Delhi covering Jama Masjid - the
largest mosque in Asia, Red Fort - the red stone magic, Gandhi
Memorial - The memoir of father of the nation. Also enjoy the
sound & light show in the evening. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 03 - Delhi / Leh
Transfer to the Delhi domestic airport for your flight to Leh, the
capital of Ladakh. Dep. 0540 Arrive 0655. Leh is situated among
the hills on the north side of the Indus Valley. Upon arrival in
Leh, you will be met by your guide and transferred to your hotel.
Day complete rest to acclimatize yourself to high altitude.
Evening walk to Lehbazaar at a slow pace. You are advised not to
run or exert. Overnight stay at the hotel.
Day 04 - Leh
Embark on a day sightseeing of Thiksey, Shey and Hemis monasteries
with packed lunch. Overnight stay at the hotel.
SHEY PALACE AND GOMPA: Located on a hillock 15 Kms upstream
from Leh, it served as the residence of the royal family. You can
see a copper statue of Buddha, plated with gold and the largest of
its kind.
THIKSEY GOMPA: 19 Kms from Leh, Thiksey is one of the largest
and architecturally most imposing Gompas. This Gompa houses
several temples, containing images, stupas and wall paintings
relating to Buddhism, which are exquisite.
HEMIS GOMPA: Located 40 Kms from Leh, Hemis Gompa is the best
known, wealthiest and biggest of Ladakh. Its other claim to fame
is that it is home to a major annual festival held here every
summer to commemorate Guru Padma Sambhava's birth anniversary. It
also has the largest Thanka in Ladakh, which is unfurled once in
12 years (nest in 2004) Built in 1630 during the reign of Singge
Namgyal, the Hemis Gompa continued to receive patronage from
different dynasties. It is divided into two, the assembly hall on
the right and the main temple on the left. The hall (Dukhang) is
also used as "green room" by the dancers during the festival. The
temple is known as Tshogkhang. The verandahs have a surfeit of
frescoes, among them the Buddhist "Wheel Of Life" (Kalachakra) and
the lords of the four quarters, besides the prayer wheel.
Day 05 - Leh-Likir
Drive from Leh to Likir (60 Kms.) on the Leh-Srinagar Highway. Pay
a visit to the monastery. Overnight camp at Liker.
Day 06 - Likir to Yangthang (3,700M) 05:30 Hrs.
After taking breakfast at the camp, start the trek towards south
through trail behind the monastery, amidst wheat fields. After a
walk for 20 minutes, you come down to the rough motorable road to
Hemis Shukpachan. Ignore the road and walk through the trail down
the road along with Stupas westward.
As the easy ascent starts from here, you can go to the top of "Chagatse
La" pass (3,700M). Again skip the road on your right and walk
through the trail down and up to the road. From here you can
glimpse a hamlet named Saspotse. Start walking towards the village
leaving the road on your right hand side. You have to cross a
river to reach the village. Take the trail behind the village
through a small gorge, which leads you to "Phobe la" pass
(3,849M). You can have the glimpse of Yangthang village from here.
After a walk for 10 minutes arrive at the camping site. The two
camping sites; one near the school which has beautiful view of the
village and the peak. The next one is near the river amidst poplar
plantation.
Day 07 - Yangthang to Hemis Shukpachan-Rizong (3596 M)-05 Hrs.
Take s short walk if you want to camp at Hemis Shukpachan village.
You can also walk up to Temisgam or village of Ang before Temisgam,
which takes around 6-7 hrs. As soon as you cross the river, the
climb of the Phobe La (4,000 M) starts, which takes around 01 hour
to reach the top of the pass. After another hour or half you reach
Hemis Shukpachan, trek to Rizong. Drive back to Leh. Overnight
stay at the hotel at Leh.
Day 08 - Leh: (Excursion to Khardung-la pass)
Excursion to Khardung-la pass; world's highest Motorable road.
Afternoon at leisure to explore the Leh town to buy souvenirs or
individual activities. Overnight stay at the hotel at Leh.
Khardungla pass: The road journey to Nubra valley leads through
Khardung La pass (The highest Motorable road in the world) 18,390
ft. around 39 Kms Away from Leh. There are two checkpoints on the
both sides of the pass.
Day 09 - Leh/ Delhi
Departure transfer to the Leh airport. Fly Leh-Delhi Dep. 0735
Arr. 0850. On arrival you will be met by our representative.
